She appreciates the uniqueness of children with neurodevelopmental issues. Her hope is for children to view themselves as a person of value by gaining self-acceptance and self-awareness to become strong self-advocates, improve functioning, and navigate daily experiences appropriately.

She utilizes an integrative approach to child therapy, with the therapeutic relationship as the utmost importance to treatment. Therapeutic interventions are based on the needs of the child, but generally include elements of behavioral and play based therapies, including directive and non-directive techniques. Mary Kalil, LMSW

First, thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I will begin with my educational experience followed by my professional growth opportunities that span approximately 27 years to date.

I had graduated from the University of Detroit-Mercy with a Bachelor degree in Social Work(B.S.W.). This educational requirement provided me a Social Work internship at the HAVEN, shelter/program for victims for domestic violence in the Supervised Visitation Program for children who are victims of child abuse/neglect. Subsequently, I was accepted into the

Advanced Standings Master Social Work curriculum where I graduated from Wayne State University with a Master of Social Work (M.S.W). My graduate studies provided me theopportunity to complete an internship at Beaumont Health Systems in the inpatient/outpatient Pediatric arenas.

Post graduate, I worked in multiple areas of psychiatric and medical social work facilities. My most recent experience afforded me the opportunity to return to Beaumont Health Systems as the Neonatal/Pediatric Intensive Care social work covering the units for thirteen years; this area also includes the Maternal Child Health settings. In these areas, I provided support in adjustment to illness associated with premature birth/anomalies, as well bereavement/grief/loss to include facilitating the Perinatal loss support group and the annual Perinatal/neonatal Memorial service.

The remaining years at Beaumont Health systems allowed me the privilege to provide support to the Adult Multidisciplinary Oncology population that resulted in my promotion to become the Lead Oncology social worker for three of the Beaumont hospitals. During these years, I earned the National Association of Oncology Social Work Certification (O.S.W.-c) as well as the Certification in Hospice/Palliative care and Advanced Care Planning. This has allowed a path to earn the National Oncology Naomi Sterns scholarship along with presenting the national/international poster on Distress Monitoring in the Oncology survivor population.

I have since left the medical field and accepted a position as a contracted Mental health therapist for local Michigan Community Mental Health systems as well as maintaining my psychotherapy private practice since 2008. It has been my pleasure to provide services to those in need of change and I appreciate all the opportunities/experiences and people whom I have met through my journey.
